Fire Safety, Wilson Apple Orchard, Fall Walk /Snack

Last week and this week are off to a busy start! But it has been so much fun :-)

Last week for fire safety week we discussed the importance of having a family fire plan, stop.drop. and role, fire alarms. Our kiddos did different activities learning about these important fire safety rules. We also practiced our fire drill and had the Kalona Volunteer Fire Department come in full gear and trucks for the kids to experience. They also talked to our kiddos so they could hear what a firefighter might sound like if they were in a building where  a fire was happening, it was great for them to hear as this sound might be "scary" to some. They all did a great job and were excited to know that these firefighters are here to help them.

We had such a great time at Wilson's Apple Orchard. The kids got to experience tasting different apples, touring the orchard, and a picnic lunch. They were also so excited to receive a "smoothie" apple from the orchard. This was a great science field trip!

We were also able to finally go on our fall walk! We looked for different fall things like: acorns, colored leaves, and even some flowers. The kids also loved hearing the sound of the crunching leaves and learning about how our trees change. We also discussed pumpkins and scarecrows. We had a great time on this beautiful day. The kiddos even got bring home there collections from our walk.

This next week we will be doing more things with pumpkins and also discussing some animals.

I also wanted to touch base as we really didn't get much snack this month. At our kindergarten round up and at the beginning of the year is was stated as a reminder that we would need you to supply snack multiple times in the year because we are limited on storage space. Thank you to those who did contribute snack, and if you haven't please consider for next month. A note will be going home Friday also. Thanks again for all your support with our classroom!

Here are some pictures from our fun filled last two weeks!
