We had such a fun week coming back from break! Yes... we have a visitor! Christmas Cookie is our Elf's name. The kiddos are so excited of the silly things he is doing. He is keeping a special eye on all of my friends as we go through our day! We even made our sown special elf's to put on display in our room.
We have really been working on writing our tricky words and trying to create sentences! Wow...so awesome to see growth. We will be starting sound baggies later this week so be on the watch for those. Will be sending a note and posting more soon about it!
Math we have been focusing on writing and reading numbers and well as patterns. The kiddos are really starting to "click" in their understanding! Here are some of the fun things we have done last week.
Thanks for your support and please let me know if you need anything! Also make sure to pack the right clothes! :-)

Thanksgiving
We have had a great few weeks learning about Thanksgiving and what it means to be thankful. We have also discussed the differences between a "need" and a "want". This was a great reflection piece for all of the kiddos and they really had to think about things they needed and things they wanted.
We have been working on refections in math and this was a great way to see how the kiddos did with trying to make a reflection with shapes in the form of turkey feathers. They did really well with this and it was fun to watch once they got the hang of it.
The cornucopia was really fun for the kids. Many had never really heard of or seen one before. We talked about how this was used in many ways during the time of Native Americans and Pilgrims. We discussed how it was used for sharing food, but also for carrying and storing food. They did great!
Macaroni Necklaces were made to symbolize the jewelry that the Native Americans wore. We used different noodles to create patterns. So much fun!
We hope you have a very relaxing Thanksgiving with your families. We will be seeing you on Tuesday the 29th! Have a great break!

Things to Do...
Sounds/Writing Words:
We have now completed Jolly Phonics. This week we have been doing a lot of reviewing with our sounds and really working on creating words with our sounds. This is a process that does take time. I am asking for your support with this skill. It can be done by actually writing or just having the kiddos tell you the sounds they hear. This is such a great thing to practice and you will start to see this pass over into reading. So please don't be alarmed that you have not seen worksheets coming home every night we are writing in our journals and having partner working time for writing words. The kiddos have really enjoyed have time to practice their skills with each other!Even though we are done with sounds...we still need to practice! :-) If you could make it a twice a week routine that would be great! We still want to practice and recall ALL of those sounds we have learned. With that don't put away the notebook just yet...we will be using these notebooks for our writing homework also. Look for that to be starting soon. Sound baggies will also be starting soon...stay tuned for details. :-)
I know this is a lot...but keep up the great work...you are All doing awesome!
Tricky Words
Today we started tricky words. These are apart of our Jolly Phonics, this is learning our sight words. These are words that can not be sounded out! This can be just want the title says.."tricky". There is a note in your child's bag that gives you all the info. Please be sure to return these with your child to school daily!
Nursery Rhymes
These are something that we are constantly working on. I just wanted to drop a note say that you could be practicing these at home as well. Nursery Rhymes support our rhyming actives so much. Singing is also soooo fun :-)Again I thank you for your continued support both in and out of the classroom. I hope you all have a great weekend! We also celebrated Monroe's Birthday today...lets just say he wasn't a fan of the hat! :-)

PJ DAY!!
Hello Everyone!
I wanted to share with you a great way to help support those in our community. On Friday, all are invited to wear PJs to help support one of our KE staff members infant son, who is Battling Cancer. This is just a small thing that we can do to help someone in need!
Any support that you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Speaking from personal experience, your support does not go un-noticed and every little bit can help!
I thank you in advance for your support.

Fall Party and Conferences Reminder!
We had such a fun time with our fall party. It has been so fun to watch these kiddos come out of their shells and grow as learners and friends. Sorry for not post the past week. We have been very busy. We made some awesome leaf pattern wreaths, we used A LOT of glue for this...the kiddos loved it! We also had Ms. Pam come again this month and she shared information on owls, the kids really enjoyed that as well.
We were also very fortunate to have our Transportation office come over and teach our students the importance of Bus Safety. It was a great refresher and learning experience for all!
I wanted to send you all a reminder to double check your conference times for this week. The dates are on Tuesday 4-8 and Thursday 4-8 . Looking forward to talking with you about the growth that our kiddos have made. When you do come please be sure to walk down to our room and just wait in the chairs right outside the door.
***REPORT CARDS ARE IN YOUR CHILD'S BACKPACK...they are coming home today!
Thanks in advance!
