Things to Do...

Sounds/Writing Words:

We have now completed Jolly Phonics. This week we have been doing a lot of reviewing with our sounds and really working on creating words with our sounds. This is a process that does take time. I am asking for your support with this skill. It can be done by actually writing or just having the kiddos tell you the sounds they hear. This is such a great thing to practice and you will start to see this pass over into reading. So please don't be alarmed that you have not seen worksheets coming home every night we are writing in our journals and having partner working time for writing words. The kiddos have really enjoyed have time to practice their skills with each other!

Even though we are done with sounds...we still need to practice! :-) If you could make it a twice a week routine that would be great! We still want to practice and recall ALL of those sounds we have learned. With that don't put away the notebook just yet...we will be using these notebooks for our writing homework also. Look for that to be starting soon. Sound baggies will also be starting soon...stay tuned for details. :-)

I know this is a lot...but keep up the great work...you are All doing awesome!

Tricky Words

Today we started tricky words. These are apart of our Jolly Phonics, this is learning our sight words. These are words that can not be sounded out! This can be just want the title says.."tricky". There is a note in your child's bag that gives you all the info. Please be sure to return these with your child to school daily!

Nursery Rhymes

These are something that we are constantly working on. I just wanted to drop a note say that you could be practicing these at home as well. Nursery Rhymes support our rhyming actives so much. Singing is also soooo fun :-)

Again I thank you for your continued support both in and out of the classroom. I hope you all have a great weekend! We also celebrated Monroe's Birthday today...lets just say he wasn't a fan of the hat! :-)
